Help Bring Their Son Home!

I would like to introduce you to a family we know from the area we use to live in. This is the Mallory family.

They have three handsome sons and in June of 2006 they adopted their beautiful daughter into their family. These are two amazing people with huge hearts. They are incredible parents and Mia is so lucky to become a part of this family.

They are now in the process of adopting a son from China. I am extremely happy for them and this little guy could not be joining a better family. This is their son Jonah.

They will be going in just a few short months to pick him up and bring him home for good. When they go to get him they have to take a mandatory donation of $5,000.00 to the orphanage. Here is a little explanation from Marianne about this donation.

"I will explain. Part of the process of adopting from China is a mandatory donation of 5,000 to the orphanage. It is NOT the fee that goes to the Chinese government for processing the adoption. It is actual cash we physically deliver to the orphanage. The Chinese government does not give funds to the orphanages to survive or provide the needed food, clothes, medicine, and staff. That is left up to the local provincial government. This is leaving the orphanages in all kinds of bad situations as most provinces are not wealthy and the orphanages are not on the top of the list for them, remembering that orphans are not really considered "real citizens". Culturally they are an embarrassment and ignored whenever possible. Some orphanages have no refrigerator and MOST do not have heat! They simply cannot afford it. So this fund is helping us bring Jonah home and it is aiding the children who Jonah has lived with his entire little life DIRECTLY! "

Now this is where you come in. In order to help them raise some of the money they need to go and bring their son home, they have a little "chip-in" donation box on their blog. Check it out here: http://jonahsfamily.blogspot.com/. They are also doing a little drawing to show appreciation to the people who help them out. For every $5 donated you will receive a ticket into a drawing they are doing for a $200.oo target gift certificate. Helping others in need and giving to such a great cause should be reward enough to donate, but who doesn't love shopping and especially at Target. Check out their blog and read more about their story and lets see if we can help bring their son HOME!!
